clavmag is a digital literary magazine. we publish creative writing by LGBTQIA+ people.

we created clavmag to fulfil our need to shout into the literary void, and as a platform for other people who feel the same way. we also run an editorial feedback service for those who don’t feel ready to submit their work.

WHY CLAV?

definition (clavicle): technical term for collarbone

the clavicles are the first bones to form in
the womb and the last to harden into bone,
in the mid-twenties. we thought this was a
good metaphor for queerness and fluidity,
and so named clavmag, clavmag.

we also enjoy the small skin dip
where the two bones meet, which
is useful for storing liquids
when lying horizontally.

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

clavmag is run by gab & frey. we met at uni, and after realising our romantic partnership was ill-fated, we refocused our energies on our creative partnership and clavmag was born. fulfilling almost every stereotype, we now live together.

we’re nearing the time when our own clavicles will be fully formed (see definition) and in swerving away from existential crisis we were keen to create something new and exciting and very very gay. this is clavmag.
